Tantalum
A fairly soft, shiny, silvery transition metal which is highly resistant to corrosion due to an oxide layer.
 Bar Bar.
This is a piece from a slab of pure tantalum cut from scrap electrodes. Tantalum is a highly inert substance which makes it well suited to electrolytic applications. It is also frequently used as a non-contaminating material for making crucibles other containers. Tantalum has a high melting point and is surprisingly dense.

 Manganotantalite Manganotantalite.
Manganotantalite is a heavy oxide of manganese and tantalum which is mined as an ore of tantalum, although it is not the most important. It is black, brown, reddish-brown or red with a sub-metallic lustre and occurs disseminated through granite, massive, granular or as well formed crystals.
